Watershed Development Programme
In recognition of our longstanding commitment to rural development and empowerment, the district authorities have entrusted us with the responsibility of implementing watershed development projects since 1995-96. Over the years, our organization has played a pivotal role in initiating and executing watershed projects aimed at sustainable land and water resource management.
Project Initiatives:
Initial Projects: Our journey began with preliminary groundwork in the field, laying the foundation for watershed development initiatives.
First Watershed Project (1996-97): We successfully secured funding for our inaugural watershed project, receiving a grant of Rs. 19,37,000. This project marked a significant milestone in our efforts to promote sustainable land and water management practices.
Subsequent Projects: Building on our initial success, we were awarded another watershed project in the following years, receiving a grant of Rs. 20,00,000 from the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA).
Geographical Coverage: Our organization is currently engaged in watershed projects covering a total area of 1025 hectares across nine villages under the jurisdiction of the Panchayat Samiti Rajgarh in Alwar district.
Objectives:
Our watershed development programme is driven by a steadfast commitment to achieving the following objectives:
Enhanced Land Productivity: Implementing sustainable land management practices to improve soil fertility, prevent erosion, and enhance agricultural productivity.
Water Resource Conservation: Implementing measures to conserve water resources, including rainwater harvesting, check dams, and watershed management techniques, to mitigate the effects of water scarcity and drought.
Livelihood Enhancement: Empowering rural communities by providing training and support in sustainable agricultural practices, livestock management, and alternative livelihood opportunities.
Ecosystem Restoration: Rehabilitating degraded ecosystems and promoting biodiversity conservation through afforestation, soil conservation, and habitat restoration initiatives.
Community Participation and Empowerment: Facilitating community participation and ownership in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of watershed projects, thereby fostering a sense of ownership and accountability among local stakeholders.
Through our watershed development programme, we aim to foster sustainable rural development, improve the livelihoods of rural communities, and create resilient ecosystems that can withstand the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation.
